Sighting in your rifle.
Finding the right hunting rifle scope! Whitetail deer hunting is only 6 months away, there's no time to slack off. He who is ready will harvest venison for the freezer. Part of getting ready is fine tuning your equipment. Some hunters like to use open sights, some like the power variation scopes, some like the quick point dot or a laser beam system. There is as much variety in rifle scopes as there are hunters. Sighting in your rifle requires 4 easy steps. First step: Find a good solid shooting stand that will allow you to hold your rifle in a steady position. Set up your target at approximately 25 yards,(check the ammunition ballistics: this is the crossing point where the bullet starts going over the line of sight). Aim at the bullseye and shoot three rounds. Second step: Inspect the target and mark the centre of the three shot grouping. Third step: Set up your rifle on the stand using clamps or something that will hold it very steady, while making sure the sights are pointing at the same spot you were aiming at when you did the shooting. Fourth step: The rifle should be fixed at this point so it doesn't move. Now, adjust the crosshair, laser beam or whatever equipment you are using so it aims directly in the centre of the three shot grouping, (Important: without moving the rifle). That is exactly where your rifle's bullets hit when you did the three shot grouping. Your rifle will now aim where the bullet will hit when you pull the trigger. I hope this can help some of you hunters out there that may have missed the huge buck of a lifetime. I wonder if someone would help me with find parts for my quick point laser unit. I have been using this with deadly accuracy for the last 15 years. It's called the "Elbit Falcon". This unit uses two 3.5 volt lithium batteries that are not readily available in my area. They look like an AA (double A) battery. I would very much appreciate being pointed in the right direction to find such a battery, or a dealer that may sell these units; they are not available in Canada. You may send me a note on by blog: "http://liarshuntingcamp.blogspot.com" (see link below) Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to help!

Contributor's Note
I started a hunting blog this winter in anticipation of the next hunting season. It seems that I'm not the only one who is impatient with waiting for the fall season!
